Empowering Futures with a STEAM Career Seminar
Before Easter, we had the privilege of welcoming Dr Rajeshwari Iyer, CEO and Co-Founder of SAInaptic, to RGS Worcester to lead an engaging and insightful Careers Seminar. Dr Iyer, with her extensive background in STEAM fields and her innovative work in the realm of artificial intelligence, provided invaluable guidance to pupils as they explored potential career paths.
Drawing from her own journey, Dr Iyer shared her inspiring story with our pupils. From her early aspirations of becoming a doctor in primary school to her eventual pursuit of a PhD, she emphasised the importance of consistency, practice, and seizing opportunities along the way. Her “If I can do it, you can do it” attitude resonated deeply with our pupils, instilling in them a sense of determination and possibility.
Throughout the Seminar, Dr Iyer took our pupils on a journey through her academic and professional pursuits, highlighting the practical applications of her studies in Bioengineering, Computational Biology, and Computational Neuroscience. She emphasised the growing significance of artificial intelligence in fields such as healthcare and finance, illustrating how AI can be utilised to make predictions, derive insights, and drive automation.
Encouraging our pupils to explore their interests within the broader spectrum of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), Dr Iyer highlighted the importance of multidisciplinary skills and soft skills such as communication, time management, and leadership. She stressed the need for pupils to seek guidance and support from teachers and mentors, emphasising the value of seizing opportunities and finding fulfilment in their chosen paths.
As a Co-Founder of SAInaptic, Dr Iyer shared insights into how AI is revolutionising the education sector, particularly in the realm of assessment and feedback. SAInaptic’s AI model offers educators a reliable marking co-pilot, streamlining the process of assessing pupil work while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
The Seminar concluded with lively engagement from our pupils and Director of Digital Innovation at RGS Worcester, Mr John Jones, who posed questions to Dr Iyer. Dr Iyer’s emphasis on fundamental skills, particularly in Science, Maths, and Statistics, left a lasting impression.
We extend our thanks to Dr Rajeshwari Iyer for sharing her expertise and inspiring our pupils to pursue their passions with determination and purpose.
