Celebrating Degree Apprenticeship Success at RGS Worcester
Alongside all of the Upper Sixth students who have received their University offers, congratulations to five Upper Sixth students who have secured offers for highly competitive Degree Apprenticeship programmes starting next academic year.
Degree Apprenticeships offer students the opportunity to combine paid employment with University-level study, working towards either an Undergraduate or Master’s Degree while gaining hands-on experience in the workplace. These courses typically span between three and six years, with the added benefit of tuition fees being fully funded by the employer. This increasingly popular route allows young people to develop skills in a professional environment, earn a salary, and graduate with a Degree – all without student debt.
The students who have received Degree Apprenticeship offers are:
- Lucie Shorter – Teaching Degree Apprenticeship at Hallow Priory
- Lucy Sinott – Accountancy at RSM
- Arya – Professional Services Accounting at Deloitte
- Zara Martin-Green – Infrastructure Surveyor at Carter Jonas
- Molly Postlethwaite – Level 3 Paralegal at Irwin Mitchell
Two students have also applied for Apprenticeships, completed their final assessments and are awaiting their results:
- Henry Welsby – British Airways Engineering Degree Apprenticeship
- India Hancox – Policing Degree Apprenticeship
The Teaching Degree Apprenticeship is being offered for the first time this year. Lucie is the only school leaver in the country to have secured this qualification; all others have experience working in primary education.
Students applying for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships at RGS Worcester benefit from a dedicated support programme run by the Careers Department. This includes monthly workshops tailored to the application process, as well as individual mock interviews and personalised assessment centre practice.
Mrs Audrey Williams, Head of Careers, commented: “We are incredibly proud of these students for securing offers on such prestigious and competitive programmes. Their drive, professionalism, and determination have been exemplary. We look forward to following their journeys as they take this exciting next step towards their future careers.”
We commend all students for their exceptional achievements for these highly competitive courses and wish them the very best as they embark on their exciting journey as Degree Apprentices when they leave RGS Worcester this summer. They join the students leaving for University courses and taking Gap Years and we look forward to marking their achievements at Graduation on 25 June and then again on Results Day on 14 August.
