Captivating Year Ten Teatime Concert
On Wednesday evening, Year Ten treated a very appreciative audience of fellow pupils, teachers and family members to forty-five minutes of superb music. The concert began with a beguiling ‘Prelude’ by Vaughan Williams played by Denis Goodwillie-Green on the viola, with further string playing from Tobias Edwards-Hall and Arthur Hasling, respectively showcasing Saint-Saens’ ‘The Swan’ on the ‘cello and a moving movement from ‘Schindler’s List’ on the violin.
Classical piano miniatures were played by Emilia Giles and Sal Fisher, with Sal also improvising a very effective hymn-like piece on the Perrins Hall organ. Archie Davey and Barney Dunnett played pop songs on the piano whilst Abigail Round sang and tinkled the ivories together in an ABBA song.
Freddie Parry performed an eastern-inspired acoustic guitar piece called ‘Spice Trail’, with Amelie Baynham and Ridhima Canchi both performing flute solos. Ridhima also closed the concert by singing ‘Adelaide’s Lament’ from ‘Guys and Dolls’, with Eloise Austin Ginger also singing very confidently in her performance of ‘Zombie’ by The Cranberries.
We thank and congratulate all who performed and look forward to the Year Nine Teatime Concert on Tuesday 25 February.
