ECB Regional Cricket Indoor Finals Day
On Wednesday this week, the Under 15 Girls cricketers enjoyed the opportunity to play at the ECB Regional Cricket Indoor Finals held at Edgbaston, having beaten King’s Worcester and Bromsgrove School in the Semi-finals and Final respectively to win the County Round.
Cricket Professional, Mr Tom Benham shares the following report:
“A strong first game saw RGS bowl Nottingham Girls High School out for 43, and a terrific team-batting display saw RGS make 104/7. Highlights were Grace, Nell and Daisy doing the damage with the ball, and Anya hitting hard with the bat.
Next up was Ellesmere College (last year’s finalists) with Grace the pick of the bowlers.
The final match was the decider for which team would make it to the Regional Finals. Unfortunately, despite a superb squad performance, RGS lost out on a position in the Final, however, there were impressive performances from Grace and Emily who bowled outstandingly throughout the day, and Anya and Daisy, hitting the ball hard and attacking all the opposition’s opening bowlers.
Overall this was a hugely impressive achievement, which sets the girls up well for their cricketing futures at RGS.
Finally, a huge thanks to Mr Tanner for his support and encouragement of the girls.”
In other Cricket news, this Monday the Worcestershire Women’s Rapids will be playing Oxfordshire at our own Flagge Meadow pitch.
