A Midsummer Celebration of the Arts
On Monday, we welcomed parents and pupils to the RGS Creative Arts Evening to join us in celebrating the creative talent at RGS Worcester.
The evening began with a warm welcome from the String Quartet in the Performing Arts Centre (PAC), setting the tone for a vibrant celebration of the Arts. Guests were then invited to explore artistic displays and live performances spread across the School grounds.
In the picturesque setting of Headmaster’s Lawn, surrounded by blooming rosebushes, Lower School pupils recited poetry from their English Anthologies. Drama pupils brought the Quad to life with powerful extracts from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, while in the PAC, pupils staged compelling musical theatre scenes.
There were Dance performances by Year Seven pupils, whose energy and choreography captivated the audiences on Long Walk. Meanwhile, Art and Design Technology exhibitions showcased an impressive range of GCSE and A Level work. Art pieces were displayed in Eld Hall and Perrins Hall, judged by Mr and Mrs Taylor of the Bevere Gallery. Their long-standing partnership with RGS Worcester continued as they awarded prizes for standout work, with Bethany Atherton (A Level) and Phoebe Anstey (GCSE) receiving this year’s Awards.
In Design Technology, pupils presented a variety of projects completed throughout the year. Visitors were invited to explore digital portfolios alongside finished products, offering insight into each pupil’s creative journey. There was even a canoe designed to have two foils to gain extra speed!
Artwork created by pupils from RGS Springfield and RGS The Grange was exhibited in Perrins Hall. Both schools’ pupils performed music pieces during the evening, adding to the sense of an Arts festival for all of our pupils.
Performances by the Junior Jazz band continued in the Quad with great spirit. Inside, guests enjoyed musical interludes from the Guitar Group in Stephen Hall, complementing the adjacent Art installations in Eld Hall.
One of the evening’s highlights was the Textiles Fashion Show on Headmaster’s Lawn. Year Seven pupils displayed their vibrant tie-dye T-shirts and Year Eight’s handmade bags, while Year Nine presented stylish sweatshirts and Year Ten modelled their bodices. Lower Sixth students impressed with their sustainable denim and outerwear designs, while Upper Sixth pupils closed the show with their stunning A Level final collections.
The evening concluded in Main Hall with the ever-popular Mass Music Ensemble. The Headmaster brought the evening to a close by congratulating the pupils, thanking staff and families, and recognising Mr Batchelder, Head of the Creative Arts Faculty, for his leadership in orchestrating such a successful event.
Thank you to all who joined us for this joyful midsummer celebration of the arts at RGS Worcester. It was an evening filled with talent, passion, and a vibrant display of creative excellence.
