A Glimpse into the Future: Year Ten Pupils Experience Sixth Form Life
On Monday, each pupil in Year Ten had the opportunity to become a ‘Sixth Former for a day’. They experienced what life is like in the Sixth Form, trialling lessons and new subject choices while also getting to experience Gordon House, our fantastic Sixth Form Centre, and ‘Joe’s’, the recently revamped Sixth Form café.
The day provided valuable insight for Year Ten pupils into how A Levels and BTEC/ CTEC studies differ from their current academic work at GCSE. Pupils were able to gain a flavour of the breadth of opportunity and support on offer in the Sixth Form, the award-winning Careers guidance at RGS Worcester, and an awareness of the incredible breadth and range of Co-curricular activities available.
Many attended lessons of new subject choices available in the Sixth Form to understand what these offer (for example: Business, Economics, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology, Sociology, BTEC National Diploma in Sport, CTEC Business).
This experience forms part of the programme to prepare our pupils for the important transition after GCSE. With so many subjects to choose from and a breadth of opportunity ahead of them, pupils were excited about the prospect of choosing the subjects they love and studying these in greater depth in the Sixth Form.
