Embracing Adventure and Challenge
Over the past two days, pupils have embarked on Expedition Weekend, with six trips departing for various exciting destinations. This evening, students are setting up camp for their Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Awards, while the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) sections of the Army, Navy, and RAF are engaged in separate excursions.
The Lower Sixth DofE Gold Training group is heading to Llanrug, Wales, while the CCF Army is visiting the Nesscliff Training Area in Shropshire. The CCF RAF is set for an adventure at Black Mountain in Wales, and the DofE Year Ten Silver Training Expedition is taking place in Shrewsbury. Additionally, the CCF Navy is participating in a trip to Top Barn Activity Centre in Worcester, along with a night exercise for the Navy Section at RGS The Grange. Throughout the weekend, students will take part in a diverse range of activities, including kayaking, canoeing, archery, orienteering, team challenges, blindfolded climbing, laser tag, and bushcraft.
Field Weekend has become an annual tradition at RGS, and the School has provided pupils with the opportunity to enhance their personal skills through the Combined Cadet Force for over 100 years. Depending on their chosen section—Army, Navy, or RAF—pupils have the chance to engage in survival skills, take on leadership roles, fly and glide, sail, kayak, climb, abseil, and utilise the .22 range located beneath Perrins Hall.
We wish everyone an enjoyable and enriching weekend on these trips!
