Cross-Country County Accolades
This week twelve pupils from Year Eight to the Sixth Form competed in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Cross-Country County Championships, held this year at Bromsgrove School.
Having earned their places at the recent District Championships, the team faced tough competition from the top runners across the two counties; the RGS pupils all ran with great spirit and determination to achieve excellent results.
The undulating and muddy course proved a tough challenge, resulting in several pupils slipping over in their efforts to outpace their rivals. They pulled themselves up and just kept running, determined to complete the course as quickly as possible.
Highlights included Top 10 places for Jacob Bunyan in the Senior Boys’ race and Julia Gebhardt in the Intermediate Girls’ category. Luke Jones finished in a highly impressive 2nd place in the Senior Boys’ race and Lexi Agoston became County Champion at Junior Girls’ level, with a great victory in her race. Luke and Lexi have qualified for the County team going to the National Finals in March, where we wish them the best of luck.
