Celebrating Rowing with the RGS Rowing Dinner
Last Saturday we celebrated Rowing at RGS with the annual Rowing Dinner. Around 70 Year Nine to Upper Sixth pupils gathered in Main Hall for the occasion. For many Rowers the evening was a momentous occasion as it was the final opportunity to celebrate the Rowing season together, as it comes to a close before the Upper Sixth Rowers leave.
The evening was a chance to thank pupils for their dedication to RGS Rowing over the season and to hand out prizes for exceptional contributions.
Awards presented during the evening were as follows:
Crew of the Year Boys – Matthew Smith, Tobey Butler, Harry Rutter, Benjamin Koutrouki
Crew of the Year Girls – Zoe Pope and Hollyanna Hopkins
Most Improved Boy – James Ford
Most Improved Girl – Isabella Coventry
Cox of the Year – Conall Williams
Head of Rowing, Mr Tim Messent said: “It was a fantastic evening to round off a successful year of RGS Rowing. Our Rowers continue to to develop and go from thrength to strength and i look forward to the yaer ahead”.
Following Last Saturday’s Rowing Dinner on Sunday, Lucy Whiteley and Olivia Hodgson attended the GB v France Match Trials at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham. Both Rowers were racing in the W J16 Single Sculls. Lucy achieved 13th place overall which was a good performance at her first trials experience. Olivia came second and has been selected as the reserve for the team. In addition Orla Larkin representing Stourport achieved 10th position in the same event.
Congratulations to those whose achievements this term were recognised through the Awards and to Lucy, Olivia and Orla. Our thanks go to everyone who attended the event, making it a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
