Carol Service Delights in Worcester Cathedral
Nothing demonstrates RGS’s Christmas festivities better than our Carol Service which took place on Wednesday evening in Worcester Cathedral.
With careful Covid-19 measures in place, we were able to invite parents and friends to join us for a wonderful event which showcased our choirs under the direction of Director of Music, Mr Jonathan Soman. The singing was quite simply magnificent with pupils from Year Seven to Upper Sixth, staff and even some former pupils joining the choirs. It was a feature that School Captains from the last 3 years were all present and singing!
The readings were given so beautifully by pupils from all sections of the School, including the current School Captains. The whole School community was reflected in the service with readings also given by the Chair of the Staff Common Room, the Chair of Governors, the President of the AOOE alumni association, and the Headmaster.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this very special festive occasion for the school.
Members of the congregation summed the evening up wonderfully in their quotes below:
“It was a beautiful service, very moving. I don’t have children studying at the school, but coming tonight has really shown the outstanding talents of RGS Worcester pupils. The School and the Cathedral should be very proud, hosting a service of such quality, managed so well in the current climate. I feel very festive and reflective and that is full credit to you all.”
“We just wanted to say a massive thank you and congratulations for such a fantastic Carol Service last night. We were so impressed with everything; the organisation, readers, quality of singing and programme. It really was a fitting way to end an extremely successful first term for our daughter and us as part of the RGS family.”
“I am just writing to say a massive ‘thank you’ for the beautiful Carol Service last night. It was truly stunning and a real testament to the great work that you all do, which is hugely appreciated.”
“I have to say we were blown away by last night’s carol service at the cathedral. Our first experience of RGSW choirs and brass ensemble. It was amazing!!!! Well done to all involved”
