Hannah Clarke Publishes Groundbreaking Book on Inclusive Education
We are delighted to share the news that Mrs Hannah Clarke, Director of Learning Development for The RGS Worcester Family of Schools and SENCO at RGS Worcester, has published her first book, No Child is Missed, No Child Misses Out. Marking the culmination of over two decades in education, Hannah’s book is a powerful blend of professional insight, personal reflection and evidence-based practice, offering a fresh perspective on inclusion in schools and the importance of early identification of pupil needs.
The book celebrates the pioneering work of the Learning Development (LD) team across all RGS Worcester Schools and the development of a rigorous, research-driven screening programme that has been carefully designed, implemented and refined since 2020. Since then, the team has screened 2,656 pupils across the Family of Schools, an effort that has yielded profound insights into the cognitive and learning profiles of young people and the invisible barriers that may affect their educational journeys.
What began as a method of identifying individual learning needs has evolved into a broader contribution to educational research. Hannah recognises that these findings have national and even global relevance and hopes the book will serve as a practical and inspiring guide for educators at every stage, from Early Years to Secondary, who wish to make education more inclusive, more responsive and more equitable.
Reflecting on the work of her team, Hannah writes: “The current iteration of the LD team is simply an outstanding group of practitioners… quite simply, they’re the best of the best.” This sentiment is echoed in the book, which highlights not only the team’s dedication and expertise but also the role that every member of staff at RGS plays in creating a learning environment where no child is missed, and no child misses out. RGS Worcester is proud to have no difference in outcomes between SEND and non-SEND pupils, an achievement Hannah attributes to careful identification and outstanding support provided by teaching and support staff alike.
To celebrate this important milestone, a book launch was held at RGS Worcester on Monday. The Headmaster introduced the book and congratulated Hannah for all of her work and for completing her book. Guests then completed some LD activities focused upon testing and heard Hannah discuss the highlights and challenges of writing the book. The evening offered an opportunity to reflect on the significance of the work taking place across The Family of Schools and to look ahead at how these insights may influence educational practice far beyond the walls of RGS.
As Hannah prepares to move on from her role at the end of the academic year to a promotion as an Assistant Head, she leaves behind a powerful legacy of inclusion, advocacy and innovation. We are pleased to announce that Mrs Louise Chance, who is currently in charge of LD at RGS Dodderhill and previously worked at RGS Worcester, will take over as Director of Learning Development from September, ensuring that this important work continues to evolve and flourish.
