A Showcase of Year Seven Talent in Final Teatime Concert
Last week, Year Seven performed in the final Teatime Concert of the year, hosted in Perrins Hall. Just a week after their end-of-year examination, eleven pupils performed a lovely variety of pieces. Charles Baynon played a very atmospheric piece of Einaudi on the piano, whilst Peter Stephen gave some poised baroque Bach on his viola. Henry Hargreaves, Jimmy Levi Bullock, Vienna Whale and Ellie Gutteridge all sang songs from musicals, capturing the character of their pieces really well.
James Couch gave a unique offering to the programme with a piece of techno dance music he had composed on BandLab; after explaining how he put the piece together, James played the piece and the audience really enjoyed the rhythms and feel he created. Freya Murphy gave further dance-inspired music, with a flute piece called ‘Tiptoe and Tango’, and also a violin piece called ‘La Cinquantaine’. Three brass pieces concluded the programme: Henry Leggett played some blues, Noah Morgan played the main theme from Holst’s ‘Jupiter’ and, to close the concert, James Walter entertained with ‘Rondo for Lifey’ by Leonard Bernstein.
The Concert showed much talent and promise in our Year Seven musicians and thank you to them for being brave and performing their pieces. Thank you also to James Couch’s father and Ms Hattie Amos, one of our singing teachers, for accompanying on the piano.
The Year Seven Teatime concert concluded the full season of Year group concerts which take place throughout the academic year. These friendly concerts are designed to build confidence for the pupils and give them all a chance to perform their individual pieces in Perrins Hall before an audience of parents and friends. Well done to everyone who has performed across the year and thank you to families and friends who have come along to support them!
