Author Visit Inspires Family of Schools Pupils
Today, we were delighted to welcome Author Onjali Q. Raúf for a special visit to RGS Worcester.
Onjali Q. Raúf is a British author and social entrepreneur known for her work in both literature and activism. Raúf’s writing often addresses social issues, particularly those affecting children, and she is committed to using her platform to advocate for marginalised communities.
One of her notable works is the children’s novel ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class’, which won the 2019 Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and the 2019 Blue Peter Book Award. Besides her literary achievements, Raúf is also the founder of Making Herstory. This UK-based charity advocates for the rights of women and girls who have experienced violence and abuse. Raúf significantly contributes to children’s literature and social justice causes through her activism and writing.
Raúf presented to Year Seven and Eight pupils from RGS Worcester, Year Six pupils from RGS The Grange, pupils in Years Five and Six from RGS Springfield, and Year Seven pupils from RGS Dodderhill.
In addition to the interactive sessions, a book sale and signing event were held in the Library during lunchtime. This presented a fantastic opportunity for pupils to meet the author in person and have their copies of her books signed.
Onjali Q. Rauf’s visit inspired our pupils and helped them to continue their love for reading. Her works resonate deeply with young readers, and we are confident that her presence left a lasting impact.
