Textiles Inspiration at The Hive
Last week, the Year Ten GCSE Textiles pupils visited The Hive, a striking example of modern architecture in the local area, to gain inspiration for their current coursework project. During the visit, the pupils produced sketches and mark makings, utilising techniques such as perspective and close studies to generate a diverse range of responses. They also captured photographs from various angles, focusing on aspects such as scale, proportion, and perspective, exploring the various angles of the building.
Back in the design studio, the pupils will use their gathered inspiration to create a series of repeat patterns. They will use their iPads to incorporate the photographs and sketches into their designs before printing them onto fabric.
The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience and gained valuable inspiration that will aid them in their upcoming coursework.
