🪁 Stay & Play at RGS The Grange
This week, we were delighted to welcome our Reception parents for a lovely Stay & Play session.
Pupils enjoyed making kites with their parents outside, before heading indoors to proudly share their work and learning. It was wonderful to see so much creativity, collaboration and joy throughout the morning.
A special moment for families to experience school life together, thank you to everyone who joined us!

🥌 Stones, Strategy, & Smiles! ✨
Our Year Three and Four pupils have turned the school hall into a `tactical arena` this term!
We’ve launched our new Kurling Club, and the children are already mastering the art of the perfect throw. They’re learning that in this sport, a gentle touch is often much more effective than a powerful push!
A massive `Thank you` to our amazing PTA for their generosity in funding this equipment. Thanks to you, we now have this brilliant, inclusive sport to share with our pupils.
The best is yet to come: Kurling will soon be an official House Competition! We can’t wait to see the tactical battles unfold across the School.

🐺 Forest School Adventures in Reception 🌿
This week in Forest School, our Reception pupils stepped into the story of Little Red Riding Hood, enjoying a fun game of hide and seek with the wolf!
Taking turns to hide and seek, pupils developed their confidence and imagination, all while learning through play in the great outdoors.
A magical way to bring storytelling to life!

This morning, Year Six swapped their desks for logs for a fun Forest School session!
We’ve been busy mastering the art of the perfect campfire damper bread. Our pupils:
🔪 Whittled: Carefully crafting their own roasting sticks with focus and precision.
🥖 Baked: Wrapping the dough and cooking it to perfection over the open fire.
🍯 Enjoyed: Topping their fresh bakes with a range of delicious extras!
To top it all off, we spent the morning singing campfire songs under the glorious sunshine. It’s these moments-learning new skills, working as a team, and enjoying the great outdoors that make the Year Six experience so special.
As put by one of the pupils "this lesson was calm, peaceful and something I will always remember at my time at RGS The Grange."

Our recent Informal Concert was a resounding success, and we are still buzzing from the talent on display!
With 25 individual performances, our pupils took us on a journey through:
✨ Classical movements
🎭 Musical theatre hits
🎷 Lively jazz standards
From vocals and piano to the flute, violin, viola, and trumpet, the variety was as impressive as the execution. Most importantly, every single pupil conducted themselves with the poise and professionalism of seasoned performers.
Seeing the months of hard work and dedication culminate in such a high-quality evening was a true delight. Thank you to all the parents and supporters who came along—your encouragement makes these moments possible! 👏✨

Sunflowers in the Making! 🌻✨
Our Year Three scientists are `Reaching for the Sky` this week! As part of their Science curriculum, the children have been busy planting their very own sunflower seeds.
It’s more than just gardening-it’s an experiment! 🧪
Hypothesis: We discussed what a seed needs to thrive (water, light, soil, warmth).
Prediction: Every pupil has made a prediction about how their sunflower will grow.
Observation: Over the next four weeks, they will be recording their findings as their seeds (hopefully!) transform into vibrant sunflowers.
We love seeing our pupils take ownership of their learning and practice the patience and care required to nurture living things. Watch this space for growth updates! 📈🌱

Nature’s Geometry! 📐🍃
Who says Maths belongs inside a classroom? Year Four headed out to Forest School this Friday for a lesson in numbers, nature and teamwork!
From counting with pebbles to constructing angles with branches, our pupils turned our grounds into their very own giant maths set. We saw:
📊 Tally charts made from twigs.
📐 Angles and Shapes built from forest finds.
🔢 Number lines using leaves and branches.
The best part? Seeing the children realise that nature is full of patterns, wonder and of course, Maths fun!
Great collaboration, Year Four you really brought the curriculum to life. 🌳🧠

✨Dream Job Reply! ✨
More exciting post has arrived for our Year Six pupils following their Dream Job letters!
This time, a pupil received a handwritten reply and goodies from @hollandcooperclothing after writing to apply for their dream role as a designer.
A wonderful and thoughtful response, and a well-deserved reward for such an excellent letter. It’s fantastic to see pupils’ ambition and hard work recognised in such a special way.
