Year One and Two education (Pre-Preparatory School) here at RGS The Grange ensures learning is deliberately creative and imaginative, aiming to ignite the natural curiosity of our young pupils. We teach the children through a topic-based approach; all the topics have been carefully planned to cover English, Maths, Geography, History, Art and Science.
The children are truly immersed in their learning; they can make connections between ideas and themes. The Class Teacher leads the majority of the learning, with the exception of specialist teaching for Music, PE and Games, Computing and French.
Year Two sees the option for the children to go on their first Residential Trip and involves a two night stay away from home. Daytime activities will include a muddy challenge and a zip wire. The trip helps with resilience, challenges, social skills and friendship groups, and becoming a little more independent.
Children are introduced to our Digital Learning Programme (DLP) during Pre-Prep School, where they will have access to class iPads. Working alongside traditional education, the DLP promotes deeper thinking skills as well as independent learning.
Pupils are introduced to Prep School departments and teaching staff during Pre-Prep years, making the transition to Prep School seamless and comfortable.
