About our Reception class

Whether your child is moving up from our Nursery or joining our Reception class from elsewhere, we provide a happy start to school life. Your child will belong to a warm, caring school community with excellent on-site and outdoor facilities.

happy, belonging, aspiring

Your child will continue to follow the Early Learning Framework, working with kind and committed class teachers and teaching assistants. The most important task here is to lay solid foundations for reading – a skill that will unlock so many doors as your child grows up. We do this through a mixture of child-initiated tasks, rainbow challenges and one-to-one work with teachers.

This is a magical time in your child’s life as they rapidly grow in confidence, skills and independence. We work closely with you to build a comprehensive and satisfying record of your child’s progress and achievements toward the Early Learning Goals at the end of Reception.

We understand that as a parent, choosing the right school for your child can be a challenging decision, and that’s why we are here to help. Our aim is to provide you with all the information you need to make an informed choice about your child’s education, from Reception upwards.

One: Small Class Sizes

At RGS The Grange, we believe in providing a supportive and nurturing environment for our pupils. Our small class sizes allow our teachers to give each child the individual attention they need to succeed and flourish. In Reception, we typically have 10-15 pupils in a class, with a maximum of 20 pupils in a class in Prep.
