Co-Curricular for Prep
RGS Dodderhill School offers a wide and varied programme of extra-curricular opportunities for boys and girls to get involved with at lunchtimes and after school. From Year Three they can participate in a range of competitive sports such as netball, football, hockey, cricket, rounders, athletics and gymnastics and pupils regularly qualify for National level finals in many of the sports we offer here.
Fun sporting activities are also offered for those wishing to participate at a more recreational level in such areas as dance, trampolining, horse riding and keep fit.
Away from sport, RGS Dodderhill offers LAMDA and music lessons, taught by peripatetic staff and exams are entered at different points throughout the year when pupils are ready. We are highly successful in these areas of the performing arts and many pupils finish their time in the Preparatory Section with high levels of exam success.
Each year the school puts on a fully staged production, which in the past has included ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘Oliver’, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and ‘Annie’ and all pupils in this section of the school are encouraged to be involved on stage and backstage as well as performing in the orchestra alongside the Head of Music.
At the end of the school day, pupils who are not taking part in organised activities can attend our supervised Homework Club until 6.00 pm. This offers the opportunity to complete homework tasks as well as to relax and play games and take part in craft activities.
