Tuesdays in the Wild: A Spooky Forest Adventure!
Our Nursery children enjoyed a wonderfully spooky adventure in the forest this week! From creating creepy pinecone spiders and making delicious pumpkin soup to searching for hidden monsters and giant, fire-breathing dragons, our imaginations certainly ran wild!
It was wonderful to see the children exploring this fantastic outdoor space, using natural materials creatively and bringing their own magical stories to life.
Outdoor learning provides endless opportunities to develop confidence, resilience, curiosity and problem-solving skills, while nurturing creativity, communication and a love of the natural world.
At RGS Dodderhill Nursery, we believe some of the most magical learning happens when children have the freedom to explore, imagine and discover.

ππ Autumn Exploration ππ
Today, we shared the beautiful story Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert, inspiring us to look more closely at the wonders of autumn.
After enjoying the story, we took time to observe and explore our autumn treasures, noticing their colours, shapes, textures and intricate details. We then continued our creative exploration with mark-making on cling film, experimenting with lines, patterns and movements.
A lovely day of storytelling, curiosity, sensory discovery and creative expression!

π Hello Yellow Day at RGS Dodderhill Nursery! π
Today, our Nursery and Pre-School children joined the girls from RGS Dodderhill for Hello Yellow Day, wearing something bright and yellow to show their support for YoungMinds β a wonderful charity working to make sure children and young people get the mental health support they need and deserve. π
Our little learners had so much fun joining in with the senior school leaders and loved being part of such a meaningful charity day. It was lovely to see our youngest children learning that even small acts of kindness can help make a big difference. π
A huge well done to everyone who took part and helped us spread a little sunshine while raising awareness for children and young peopleβs mental health. π

Tuesdays in the Wild
This week we went on a spider web hunt! πΈοΈ The morning dew made the webs sparkle beautifully, and the children loved spotting them hidden amongst the trees while singing Incy Wincy Spider. πΆ
Our creative focus was natural dyes π«π¨ We collected forest berries to make our own natural paint and experimented with berry smash patterns, exploring what happened when we squashed, pressed and rubbed the berries onto fabric.
This lovely sensory experience encouraged creativity, fine motor development and curiosity, while also supporting the EYFS through exploring colour, texture, patterns and the natural world. π±π
A beautiful morning of discovering, creating and learning outdoors! β¨

Ballet with Miss Sarah! π©°
What a wonderful morning of ballet with Miss Sarah! The children had so much fun dancing, moving and exploring the magical treasure trove in Miss Sarahβs suitcase, filled with wands, crowns, fairy wings and so much more.
Our ballet sessions are a fantastic way to support childrenβs development, helping to build gross motor skills, balance, coordination, listening and attention, confidence, creativity and self-expression.
The children loved using their imaginations as they explored music and movement, while developing important EYFS skills through play and dance.
Thank you, Miss Sarah, for another wonderful and magical session!

π¦ Tiny hands, big ideas! πΏ
Today, our Nursery and Pre-School children worked together to create a giant obstacle course, using their imaginations, teamwork and problem-solving skills to bring their ideas to life! π§©β¨
It was wonderful to see them collaborate, negotiate and support one another as they designed their adventure. And, of course, no obstacle course would be complete without a dinosaur world, a jungle and multiple snake pits to add a little peril! ππ¦π΄
What an incredible adventure created by our little learners! π

πΆ Mini Music Makers! π»
Every Wednesday, we get musical with our outstanding music teacher, Mrs Jay-Jones! From just 2 years old, our little learners can handle and explore a wonderful variety of instruments. π΅
Today, we listened carefully to different sounds and guessed which instrument was making each one before getting hands-on and exploring for ourselves!
Our little learners absolutely loved discovering the violin β what a wonderful musical adventure! π»β¨
