Forest School
Outdoor learning is a special part of life at RGS Dodderhill Nursery. Our beautiful on-site Forest School gives children the freedom to explore, investigate and learn through hands-on experiences in nature, helping them build confidence, independence and curiosity from an early age.
Set within the stunning grounds of the wider school site, our Forest School provides children with space to move, discover and connect with the natural world. From searching for mini beasts and collecting natural treasures to storytelling, imaginative play and seasonal activities, every session encourages children to learn through doing.

Learning Through Exploration
Children are naturally curious, and Forest School allows them to follow their interests in a safe, nurturing environment. Outdoor sessions encourage children to:

- Learn to take managed risks safely
- Develop a love and respect for nature
We are not afraid to let children get messy, explore fully and immerse themselves in meaningful play experiences. These hands-on opportunities help children become independent, inquisitive learners while having enormous fun outdoors.
Space to Grow
One of the great advantages of RGS Dodderhill Nursery is the access children have to extensive outdoor space and specialist facilities across the school site. Forest School sessions complement our wider nursery provision and form part of a rich, varied week that may also include dance, music, baking and outdoor learning specialist sessions.
The calm and relaxed outdoor environment also supports children’s emotional wellbeing. Children learn to work together, communicate, persevere and develop self-belief; all within a caring setting where every child feels known and supported.
