The School has two Bursary Funds whose capital value is being built up through generous donations. The interest earned on the capital each year is used exclusively to fund the payment of school fees through bursaries.
The A R Wheeler Bursary Fund is named after Tony Wheeler who dedicated his entire career to RGS Worcester (1950-1987) and who served as a Geography teacher, Whiteladies House Master and was Second Master for twelve years. ARW died in 2012 and made a substantial legacy gift to the School to set up the bursary fund in order that able children without the financial means may attend the School to which he devoted his life.
The Alice Ottley Bursary Fund is named after Miss Ottley who pioneered the provision and advancement of girls’ education in the City by setting up The Worcester High School for Girls in 1883. She was a visionary in her appreciation of the transformational role that education should play in the lives of girls and this fund celebrates her achievement.
There are pupils currently attending the School because bursary awards have been made from these two Funds.
The sustained growth of these funds is the best long-term approach to securing additional bursary places at the School.
