Yoga continues to grow at RGS…
In 2017-18, yoga was introduced to the Senior Games Programme at RGS. One year on and the option is thriving, with over 25 pupils attending the one-hour sessions which are held on Wednesday afternoons.
Our Director of Sport, Gareth Roots, was very aware that competitive sports are not for everyone and that participation and enjoyment are integral in providing a broad and varied sports curriculum, especially at Sixth Form. Our RGS pupils took some time out to explain what yoga means to them and how it has helped them in so many different ways;
“I look forward to yoga so much – life is so busy and it’s just an opportunity to relax and take an hour out.”
“Concentrating on my breathing really allows me to relieve stress and the poses we are asked to perform are both challenging and rewarding.”
“I actually use some of the poses and breathing techniques outside of my Yoga sessions. It has helped me deal with stressful situations and I feel that my coping strategies are much better than they were before.”
RGS have employed Soul Sanctuary to deliver their yoga sessions and they have been hugely successful in implementing an enjoyable and beneficial programme. If you are interested in perhaps trying some yoga for yourself, please click here for Soul Sanctuary.
