U11 National Hockey Champions win Second Sporting Award Last
Last season’s Under 11 Hockey team from RGS The Grange won the award for ‘Best Junior Team’ at the Sports Partnership Hereford and Worcester Awards this week. The girls became Under 11 National Champions after winning the IAPS (Independent Association of Preparatory Schools) finals last season, in a remarkable season, which saw them win 28 out of 30 matches, including five tournaments.
Earlier this term, the team was also awarded the prize for ‘Best Educational Sporting Achievement’ by Olympic legend, Steve Cram CBE who had recently returned from the Rio Olympics.
Their terrific success has not gone unnoticed by the local media, and after much local press coverage, three of the girls were interviewed live yesterday on BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester.
Mr Gareth Hughes, Headmaster at RGS The Grange said:
“It is a pleasure to see such a successful young team rewarded in this way for the tremendous effort and commitment that they have put in over the season. The team has achieved great things, which the whole School will remember with great pride for many years to come.
“We look forward to seeing the girls continue to develop their Hockey at RGS Worcester in the future.”
