Super Saturday for Girls’ Sport
Following a week of excellent Netball results including the Under 14A and B and Under 13A and B wins against The Chase School and the 4th team against Hereford Sixth Form College, the ‘girls in green’ were ready for a Saturday of fixtures against Bromsgrove and Cheltenham Ladies College as well as hosting visits from Year Five and Six pupils at the Girls Sport Open Morning.
To commence the morning, over 30 pupils visited RGS Worcester to experience a taster morning of RGS Girls’ sport. This began with Senior pupils speaking about the opportunities available to them and explaining how they have developed throughout their time at RGS Worcester. Following this, the visiting pupils took part in some practical Strength and Conditioning, Netball and Hockey sessions that were run by RGS staff and pupils, in order for them to experience Sport at the School.
The Under 12 and 13 A and B teams were then in action against Bromsgrove in a home fixture, producing some outstanding results including the Under 12As winning 16-8, the Under 12Bs winning 3-1, the Under 13As winning 20-4 and the Under 13Bs winning 22-0.
Afterwards the Seniors headed to Cheltenham for Away fixtures against Cheltenham Ladies College. Successes included the 1st team winning 39-28, the 4th team winning 22-5, the Under 15As winning 29-5, the Under 14Bs winning 7-3, the Under 14Cs winning 13-6, the Under 13Cs winning 9-1 and the Under 13Ds winning 18-6.
Overall, this was an outstanding weekend with some excellent play in the fixtures and impressive leadership skills demonstrated at the Girls’ Sport Open Morning from current pupils, inspiring the next generation of RGS Worcester pupils.
