Our U9 girls Rounders team played away at The Elms on Tuesday.
They began fielding with some lovely bowling from Martha Burden and a great link between Sam Ralph at Backstop and Theodora Hall on second post.
The Elms batted well and kept our deep fielders busy, the score creeping up to a total of six rounders. RGS Springfield then stepped into bat, finding it hard to connect consistently initially the girls took their chances through misfields to gain half rounders. However, the batting improved and they finished the first innings with nine and a half rounders.
Braving the rain showers, we played a shortened second innings. With tight fielding from Springfield, the Elms scored one more to take their total to seven. Springfield, unaware that they had already won, finished off in style scoring another three and a half rounders to win 13-7 overall.
