RGS Worcester Netball Gets New Year Off To a Flying Start
RGS Worcester Netball has had a winning start to 2016 in all age groups. Saturday 9 January saw RGS Worcester teams win all their matches against Hereford Cathedral School.
Then the Under 18 RGS Worcester Netball squad visited the University of Worcester Arena in preparation for the West Midlands Regional tournament and ‘Superball’. After a number of competitive matches against the University of Worcester, RGS Worcester came second in the ‘round robin’ tournament. Also at Senior level we have extended our fixture list this year and the 1st and 2nd VII teams played King Edward VI College, Stourbridge winning 33-16 and 34-14.
The Under 14 and 15 Netball teams travelled to Solihull School and comfortably won all their matches as did the Under 12 A and B teams who won all theirs against The Chase School.
Then it was the turn of the staff; RGS Springfield, RGS The Grange and RGS Senior School took part in the first RGS Staff Netball triangular tournament. RGS Senior School staff and Springfield took to the court first and the Senior School defeated Springfield 7-1. Brilliant attacking skills were demonstrated by Mr Davies, Mrs Atkins, Mr Shorrocks and Mrs Whitcomb. In the match against The Grange, Mr Berry and Mr Trow performed some brilliant defensive play to win 11-8. The final result saw first place awarded to RGS Senior School, second place to The Grange and third place to Springfield. Well done to all staff from all three RGS schools who participated.
We look forward to ‘Superball' on Saturday 19 March 2016 where we hope to have an exciting event, supported once again by a strong RGS crowd. Tickets go on sale from Mrs Sturdy’s office at break time from Monday 1 February 2016.
