RGS Rebuilding Bridge
The Year Nine Bridge team competed at the National Youth Bridge Challenge at Loughborough Grammar School on Saturday, RGS's first Bridge team for nine years; they follow in the footsteps of David Williams and Peter Ford, who went on to win the prestigious inter-university Portland Bowl at Cambridge, and to represent England at Under 20 level!
This year's team (Edward Smith & James Reynolds; Harry Nelson & Ben Walker) were up against many Sixth Formers, but kept their cool: they finished 20th equal out of 24 teams overall. After a tough first four rounds losing to The Haberdasher's Askes’ School, Oxford High School, Oundle School and Eton College, they came through to win their final match against The Latymer School by a convincing 16-4 margin. With four more years left to improve their skills, we can look forward to 2020 with interest.
