Malvern Festival of Innovation
Tuesday 8 October saw the first of our trips this week to the Malvern Festival of Innovation. Thirty-two pupils from Year Eight made their way to the Three Counties Showground. The Festival of Innovation is all about getting young people involved in STEM subjects and enthusing about the world of Science and Engineering.
The Festival organisers explained their vision: “Today we need to innovate more than ever. In the way we do business, the way we use resources; the way we live. We need new ideas to stay competitive, new technologies to improve lives, and new insights to lead the way.” Our pupils had the opportunity to tour the stands in the Exhibition Hall with their interactive activities and freebies – a great deal of fun was had by all. We then had a workshop talk by a Chemical Engineer who is passionate about the future of energy. She has worked in conventional power generation as well as oil and gas exploration and production projects and operations, and now works on energy innovation for the UK Government. She went on to enthuse the pupils about chemical engineering in Lush products too.
Saturday 12 October is Family Day at the Festival:
It is definitely worth a visit if you have time over the weekend.
