For her Extended Project Qualification Jemma Walden, Upper Sixth posed the question,
'Do the advantages of flood mitigation products outweigh the cost to the UK economy?'. She then sent it to UK Flood Barriers who had expressed an interest in seeing the essay. They liked it and sent it to be published in a specialist publication called ‘Perspectives’, which deals with the issues around flooding.
Jemma’s EPQ has earned her 70 UCAS points, crucial for a University application, particularly as UK Flood Barriers have offered to sponsor her through university with a job offer at the end of it.
