We were delighted to welcome our Spanish partners from Zaragoza, in our ninth year of working together. This year we had 16 students and 2 teachers staying with RGS families. The first challenge on Wednesday was when the guests attended lessons with a Latin vocabulary test (they passed with honours) to Spanish speed dating in the Playground – so all Year Ten Spanish students could question our visitors, in Spanish of course! The exchange students experienced a wide range of visits to Oxford, London, Cadbury World and Birmingham and families organised exciting weekend activities, including a visit to the fantastic ‘Superball’, and Stratford Upon Avon. Once again, the Spanish students impressed us with their excellent grasp of English.
Roberto Munoz, who travelled with the team from Zaragoza, loved Oxford with its beautiful University buildings which were very different to Universities that he had seen in Spain. He was delighted with RGS Worcester which reminded him of Hogwarts, as well as offering great facilities, such as the DT facilities and sports opportunities. He remarked on the very positive atmosphere at the School where he identified the positive relations between staff and students.
We are looking forward to our return visit to Zaragoza next month – and the tenth anniversary of our partnership.
