#HourofCode
It has been Computer Science Education week (including the Hour of Code), so pupils in Years Seven and Eight gladly flexed their coding muscles to develop some excellent games, animations and generally had some great fun completing the Code.org tutorials.
It was a delight to see boys and girls so enthusiastic about coding, encouraged by tutorials based on Minecraft, Frozen and Star Wars. Most pupils far surpassed expectations and completed more than one challenge. It was impressive to see the capabilities of our budding coders and not content with the coding challenges from Code.org, some boys and girls decided to show even more advanced skills by coding animations in Javascript.
Our Year Seven pupils, showed great ability in coding an animated Christmas card in Scratch. One Year Seven boy even decided to work his way through Java tutorials, far surpassing the expectations of a Year Nine pupil! In all, it is very exciting to see such early budding stars emerge, as we continue our coding journey. Well done everyone!
