Aston Martin Engineering Event
On Friday afternoon, 30 RGS students, from Year Ten to the Upper Sixth, went to hear Dr Bal Choda speak as part of the Careers and Engineering programme. Bal arrived in ‘his’ Aston Martin to deliver an audio-visual presentation about how these iconic sports cars are designed for both their stunning looks and engineered for high performance. He is no ordinary engineer with Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd, but also designer and inventor having worked for some 14 car manufacturers. Bal described everything from the design process, systems engineering and innovation that goes into the creation of an Aston Martin sports car.
The talk was highly engaging and provided students with a real insight into numerous areas of engineering and manufacturing. Bal described his job as a ‘hobby job’ – he gets paid for doing something he loves. He left students motivated and challenged them to “work hard, aim high and never give up on their dreams”.
