Under 12 Hockey – These Girls Can

The Under 12A Girls Hockey team took part in the County Tournament on Tuesday 5 March hosted by RGS Worcester at RGS The Grange.

They commenced the tournament against Malvern St James and came away with a 1-0 victory. The second game was against a well organised Bromsgrove side, and after a slow start, the girls found themselves 0-1 down. They rallied as a team and started to pull the game back, soon levelling the score, and at 1-1 they started to dominate play. A second goal shortly followed to make the score line 2-1. The team was largely untroubled during the second half to win the match 2-1 and secured their place as champions before we had played the last match.

The girls were not aware of this fact and against King’s School, they were keen to finish off the tournament with a positive result. They started brightly and were soon 2-0 up with some well-taken penalty corners. The second half remained relatively one-sided, and after some neat interplay, they scored the third goal to complete a comprehensive 3-0 victory.

The team now proceed to the Regional finals, which will certainly provide some tough opposition for this side. We wish them well.
