The Under 12 Cricket team have proven to be the standout cricket team of the Trinity term at RGSW after they were crowned County Champions this week. Following comprehensive wins over Bromsgrove (10 wickets) and Christopher Whitehead Language College (10 wickets) in previous rounds, RGSW faced Bredon Middle School, who had beaten Kings School in the semi-final.
After a slow and watchful start Amaan Edavalath (47) and Harvey Shaw (67*) started to accelerate the scoring, combining in an excellent opening partnership of 117 runs. Freddie Ammonds confidently strode to the crease and scored a quick fire 17 not out from 19 balls with RGSW closing on 144 runs for only 1 wicket from their 20 overs. In the field the under 12 RGS team built pressure and were able to take wickets at constant intervals, securing a comprehensive 55 run victory. Captain Tom Odell was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 4 wickets (4-0-8-4).
The Under 12As have succeeded in securing a place in the National Bunbury Cup Competition next year as Worcestershire Champions and will hope to emulate the national success achieved when in Year Six at RGS the Grange.
