Lottie Atkinson, Year Ten, had a great day on Friday 29 June as she took her place in the U16 England squad against Germany at Bisham Abbey.

Although she was understandably nervous at the start, she played strongly, getting a good amount of play in every quarter. The team did not score, although they competed valiantly and had chances themselves to prevent the German squad from taking victory. The German team continued to exert pressure on England, who ultimately succeeded in holding a very strong German side to a close 0:1 final score, with the German squad winning all three matches over the course of the weekend. Well done to Lottie on being an integral part of such a strong England squad.

We are pleased to report that some of our fencers have been in action again:

On Saturday 30 June, Will Osborne, Year Ten, travelled to Newcastle upon Tyne for the Elite Epee Under 17 event.  It turned out to be a very strong field, with lots of good quality fencing. Will won four bouts in his pool, unfortunately losing 15-8 in the quarter finals, placing fifth in the competition.

On Sunday 1 July, Guy Anderson, Lower Sixth, took part in the Under 19 British Youth Pentathlon Championships at Melksham and Bath, where he swam a PB, fenced excellently with 12 victories and 6 defeats, placed third in the fencing, shot well and ran, finishing an impressive 5th overall.

Well done to Will and Guy.
