Cricket Season Kicks Off

The Cricket season has begun promisingly this week with victories for the 1st XI against Sir Thomas Rich’s School, and the Year Seven A and B teams against Winterfold School.

The RGS 1st team restricted Sir Thomas Rich’s School to 124 for 9 off 30 overs, Ben Sutton, our new Year Eleven captain, and Niall Southwick, Lower Sixth, taking 3 wickets each. The target was reached in 22 overs with debutant Rees Bonham, Lower Sixth making 37 and Sutton concluding a good all-round game with 33.

The Year Seven A team scored a huge 190 for 1 wicket off 20 overs with scores of 50 for Freddie Ammonds and George Hallam, and 46 for Harvey Shaw. They then bowled Winterfold School out for 81 and are looking a formidable all-round side under Mr Scott’s tutelage. We look forward to our block fixture against keen rivals Monmouth School on Saturday and are hoping to develop from such a good start.
