Marathon ‘Lockdown’ Challenge
Over Half term, Elodie Vinson, Upper Sixth, challenged herself to shake off ‘lockdown’ and walk a marathon in a day. Elodie explains the challenges and her achievements below.
“As a person, I love a challenge for both mental and physical benefits. After being in ‘lockdown’ for a couple of months, I wanted to do something that would make me feel a sense of accomplishment and pride. ‘Lockdown’ can have a massive impact on mental health, and I am a firm believer in looking after your mental health… so I decided to walk a marathon in one day! I did this by walking from Bromsgrove to Worcester and back over 9 hours. The first 26 km of the walk I found surprisingly ok, but it was the last 10 km when I had to use my determination to carry on. My feet and legs hurt, but all I could think about was how great I would feel after completing the challenge I had set myself. It was honestly an amazing experience which improved my personal mental strength. I would definitely recommend a challenge like this to everyone.”
Well done Elodie – a fantastic achievement!
