Another battle of the Houses took place on Field Day and this time the teams were armed with glue guns.
Following the brief to build a three-dimensional structure, entitled ‘Our Art House’ from simple and recycled materials, the four teams looked to artists and art movements for their inspiration. Elgar produced a theatrical homage to Hundertwasser with bright colour and towering domes, Wylde presented a thought- provoking open house with a powerful environmental message, Ottley created a delicately worked shanty town on stilts and Whiteladies recreated their namesake school building in the Pop Art style, complete with colourful portraits of members of the Senior Leadership Team, including the Headmaster.
Mrs Hunt, Head of Art, said: “ All four ideas showed imagination and creativity and it was a pleasure to work with such enthusiastic pupils.” The judges were Mr Parker, Assistant Head Co-Curricular and Outreach, and Mr Beecham, Senior Deputy Head, who found judging a difficult task, but there had to be a winner and this year it was Elgar. Well done to everyone.
