Year Five took part in their ‘Play in a Day’ and the theme of the day was the work of Roald Dahl. The day involved every member of Year Five creating a collaborative play and performing this to their parents after school.
Firstly, the children met in the hall at the start of the day to create a dance for the start and end of the performance. Once they had practised this, they split into four groups and focused on a different Roald Dahl text each. The four groups created a scene from The BFG, George’s Marvellous Medicine, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach. These scenes were then weaved together with the dancing to create a fantastic final performance.
All of the children and staff worked extremely hard to create a wonderful play in the short time available. We were all very proud to see the children using their initiative, collaborating and pushing themselves out of their comfort zone. Bravo Year Five!
