Making Toys in Year One
On Tuesday, Year One welcomed Heuristics Toymakers who helped us all to make a wooden, moving toy. Before starting our toys, Don presented a variety of old toy designs and explained to us how toys moved using the forces of push, pull and gravity.
He then told us exactly what we would have to do when making our own toy:
1. Sand the wood to make it smooth.
2. Design and colour our toy.
3. Assemble it using string, wooden nails and glue. We also got to use the drill and hammers which was awesome!
4. Play with our toy.
We had a wonderful experience and all of our toys are amazing. What do you think?
