On Friday 20th October, Year One visited the West Midlands Safari Park as part of their Animal Magic topic. After driving around the safari park, looking at lots of different wild animals, from the safety of our minibus, we parked up and headed over to the Safari School for our Discovery session. The school workshop buildings are a new addition to the park and we all enjoyed learning lots about different animals, some we hadn’t even heard of before, and their habitats. We held some animals and in two teams made two cockroach houses! We then let the hissing cockroach choose which house he preferred! After all this new learning, we were all ready for lunch! It was then time to watch the sea lion show! We were all amazed at how well-behaved and talented the sea lion was. We then saw the other smaller animals including the reptile house and penguins, followed by the roaring dinosaurs, before it was time to head back to school. An educational and fun day was had by all and it was a lovely way to end our first half term together in Year One.
