Year One received three letters this week. One from Jack asking for a new waterproof raincoat, one from the giant asking for a new chair and one from the golden hen, needing a new hen house! In groups, the children had to explore the properties of different materials in order to decide which materials would be most suitable. They then made each item and used their science skills to test them. We discovered many things, such as dropping water onto Jack’s coat using a pipette to prove cellophane is waterproof. The children then developed their investigative skills by writing up the findings.
