The Schools Cricket website (schoolscricket.com) has this week listed RGS Worcester’s 1st XI as joint top in the UK league for the season so far with six wins from six matches and second in their World league. This follows an outstanding start to the season with a further highlight this week winning against Malvern College in the National Twenty20 knock-outs. The team put on a superb performance ending with Malvern scoring 149 and RGS scoring 150-5.
The team fielded, bowled and batted with aggression and confidence against a talented team. 1st XI bowlers attacked their batters restricting them to 149. Callum Turner was the dominant figure for RGS Worcester scoring 67 not out off 39 balls, as the team cruised to victory with two overs to spare. Following this was a comfortable win against Bablake ensuring a place in the next round.
In addition this week, the 1st XI won the first round of the Chesterton Cup and go through to the Finals at New Road (WCCC) on Tuesday 29th May.
The 1st XI and 2nd XI teams were successful against Monmouth on Saturday with Sam Hughes (103) and Josh Nott (88*) scoring 191 for the 2nd XI and securing victory. The Under 15s are through to the second round of the County Cup and the Under 13A team continued their excellent start by scoring over 200 for the second time in two matches.
