RGS would like to congratulate following pupils for the fantastic achievements they have obtained recently:
Year Eleven pupil Myren Madden competed at the British Youth (Under 17/Under 15) Weightlifting Championships 2018 on 3 February at Venue 360 in Luton. He has subsequently been announced as Under 17 British Weightlifting Champion.
Myren achieved 6 lifts out of 6. He actually got 3 green lights on every single lift. He also achieved personal bests in snatch 96kg, clean and jerk 121kg and total 217kg.
At the end of the competition, the judges complemented Myren on his great lifting techniques. They said that he was nowhere near a ‘no lift’ on any of his lifts and that he had ‘loads more in the tank.’
It was a chilly but exciting day for the Year Seven Schools Games Cross-Country event which was held at RGS The Grange on 5 February.
Teyah Farmer finished in second position. A top six finish means she qualifies to represent the Droitwich and Worcester City team on Thursday 1 March.
Well done to Adam Lawrence who ran well and finished 8th in the Year Seven boys race.
We are delighted to hear Year Eleven pupil Abigail Watkins has now officially been selected to represent Wales at the ‘2018 Cadet and Junior Commonwealth Championships’. This event is held every three years for Under 17 and Under 20. It will be held in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in July. Abi has been selected to represent Wales at both Cadet & Junior level.
Fencing Coach, Nick Chapman said, “I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Abi on this honour that she has been working so hard for so long to achieve. I wish her the very best of luck.”
