Head Boy and Captain of Boys’ Boats, Alec Berry, took part in the Boston Rowing Marathon, a 50km row from Lincoln to Boston on 17 September. Alec represented RGS Worcester in a quad with three boys from Worcester Rowing Club. The crew, racing J18, was the last boat to set off from Lincoln.
Alec said: “We chased down as many of the other 103 crews as possible. After four hours of gruelling rowing, and many blisters, we finally reached the finish and were placed second in our event and in the top 10 overall. It was immensely tiring. The kilometres seemed to drag on longer, the further through the race we went!”
Olympic rower, James Cracknell, was also at the event and, despite racing in a single, still managed to beat nearly every other crew.
