European Week of Languages
Every year, on 26 September, schools across Europe celebrate European Day of Languages. At RGS Worcester, we prefer to celebrate languages all week long. We would not want to miss an occasion to promote the importance and benefits of lifelong language learning for everyone.
This week, across the school, students were encouraged to count in a different language, answer the register in a foreign language of their choice and you might find your offspring is struggling with the school iPad as they have chosen to put it in a different language! The competition is open to students from Year Seven to Year Ten in which they have ‘carte blanche’ to design a poster about a European country of their choice. We look forward to receiving their entries before 12 October. The “la crème de la crème“ this week was definitely House Pétanque! For the second year running, House Pétanque is an opportunity for students to secure some points for their house. Pétanque is a very inclusive sport which is played across Europe and involves throwing boules towards a target ball, otherwise known as ‘le Cochonnet’. Each Year group was able to compete and all students enjoyed taking part even under the rain! The overall House winner is yet to be decided, it is all down to the performance of our Sixth-Formers next Friday!
Many thanks to the MFL Department for refereeing the games, to the Head of Houses and Mr Morgan for cheering on and to Miss Gidon for orchestrating this event.
