The Physical Education Department aims to develop a lifelong love of sport and to ensure a wide range of knowledge and understanding through a variety of activities from Dance and Gymnastics to Boxercise and Pilates. Within this variety pupils are encouraged to fulfill their own individual potential.  All pupils have a Physical Education lesson each week.

RGS also provides coaching and direction in exceptional facilities. These include our state-of-the-art Fitness Suite, two Sports Halls, a purpose built Dance Studio, two Astroturf pitches, netball courts and our vast array of sports fields.

Physical Education is available as an A Level which looks at performance analysis, gains an understanding of anatomy and physiology and undertakes an in-depth study of sports psychology, as well as a practical element.  Through the A Level students gain the opportunity to take a trip to Rugby School, be part of the National Sports Careers Roadshow and to try Lactate Threshold Testing at the University.  A Sports Leadership Course teaches students to run and lead coaching and sporting sessions safely.
