Rounders
27 May 2010
UII A v Bluecoat School
Wednesday 26th May
After winning the toss and putting Bluecoat into bat first, The Grange set about the task of restricting the opponents to as few rounders as possible! Apart from a few hesitant moments The Grange fielded very well and restricted Bluecoats to a 3 ½ first innings score.
Very early on in their innings it was obvious that the girls had ‘their eye in’ and were scoring full rounders almost on demand! Mention must be made of Rose Bevan-Smith’s and Francesca Morgan’s inspired batting. Between them they scored 7 of The Grange’s 11 first innings score.
After shuffling around the fielding positions and a change of bowler, Bluecoat added 9 more rounders to their score in the second innings.
The Grange began their second innings much as they had finished their first, striking the ball well and varying the direction of their hits. Apart from 3 or 4 batsmen getting themselves out through some careless errors of judgement, The Grange soon notched up 8 more rounders, to win the match 19 – 12 ½ rounders.
