On Thursday Year One took part in a Victorian Day. The children made a fantastic effort at dressing up as Victorian maids, chimney sweeps, miners and factory workers. They had a lesson with a very strict Victorian teacher who even ended up using the cane and dunces hat!
They moved on to learn all about Victorian toys, what forces controlled them and what materials they were made out of. Finally, they ended the morning with scrubbing Mrs Hobson’s dirty clothes on the washboard with carbolic soap. All in all it was very hard work but the children had a fantastic time and learnt lots about life in the Victorian era.
