RGSAO host Worcester Competitive Arts Festival
13 March 2009
RGS Worcester & The Alice Ottley School is delighted to announce that it will again be hosting the Worcester Competitive Arts Festival.
Throughout the day on Saturday, March 14 and Saturday, March 21 the dynamic independent school will be alive with a wealth of music, poetry and drama.
March 14 is dedicated to all music styles and will witness several hundred people of all ages descending on the Upper Tything site. Attendees will enjoy classes in strings, wind and piano.
The music, drama and speech day on March 21 will see over 500 people taking part, including 16 choirs from a mix of state and independent school, as well as private choirs and harmony groups – they include choirs from RGS The Grange, Springfield, Oldbury Park, The Chase, Blessed Edwards, Worcester Male Voice Choir and Vale Harmony Barber Shop Chorus to name but a few.
Trophies and medals will also be awarded to the winners in every class and there are also two prizes for outstanding achievement – donated by the Worcester Arts Council. All prizes will be awarded at the Winners Concert on Wednesday, March 25, from 7pm in RGSAOs Perrins Hall.
It is sure to be a fantastic series of events, so please feel free to come along or join in if you wish.
